Earth's Endangered Creatures - the Numbat

The Numbat is a Marsupial and also called the banded anteater.
It is different to other marsupial because it is awake during the day and asleep at night. They also do not have puches so the babies have to hold on to the front of the female.
Numbats have sharp claws and long sticky tongues so they can dig into termite hole and eat them whole.
Numbats usually live in hollow logs where they nest using leaves, bark and grass that they dig up.
Numbats used to live all over the south of Australia but they now only live in Western Australia.
There are only about 2000 Numbats left in Australia.
Numbats have died mostly because of Red Foxes and habitat loss.
